Hello there and welcome to my blog! Here you will find Korean and Japanese drama reviews, movie reviews, music picks, and more. It will mostly be my totally biased opinions. I’ve been watching dramas and listening to K-pop for a couple of years now and thought it would be fun to blog about it. This is a lot of me trying to keep track of everything I’m doing, but also sharing my enthusiasm with the online community.
Who am I? Well…You can call me Nyx, and I’m from the Midwestern area of the United States. I like to pretend to be critical about stuff, but I’m really just fangirling hard over all the hot men and beautiful women. I have an unhealthy amount of love for K-pop and Asian dramas.
It all started in 2010, when I noticed one of my friends in high school singing to a song that was in another language. I was curious so I asked her about it and she was more than happy to recommend me lots of bands to listen to (my first experiences with DBSK, SHINee, SNSD, f(x), Arashi, and NEWS). I was almost instantly in love with DBSK and the mischievous maknae member Changmin (my very first bias!). The only problem was my friend didn’t tell me that THEY HAD BROKEN UP (*gross sobbing*). “Mirotic” was still my jam for months, but I also began listening to other groups who were currently releasing music. Cue the beginning of my obsession with SHINee and that hot dancer in the middle, Taemin (still my bias). Long story short, “Mirotic” and “Lucifer” really got me into K-pop.
I started my drama watching with Sunao ni Narenakute, just because it had Jaejoong in it and I was super obsessed with DBSK at the time. It wasn’t amazing, but it was good enough to get me interested in watching more dramas and introduced me to Eita and Ueno Juri! From then on I devoured Japanese dramas, getting particularly obsessed with Hana Kimi and Hana Yori Dango. Eventually I tried my hand at Korean dramas with Personal Taste, which again was good, but not mind-blowing. It was a while later that I finally watched another kdrama, and this time I was sucked into the pure awesomeness of Coffee Prince. There was no going back. Since then I’ve watched a mix of kdrama and jdrama, sometimes going through phases of each. It’s been easier for me to watch jdramas because they’re much shorter, as you can see from my drama list. But lately I’ve really gotten into kdramas and have somehow found the patience to watch them while they’re airing.
You can tell what I like by my favorite peoples over here:
IN THE K-POP CORNER:
My #1 Favorite: SHINee!
Lee Jong Suk (isn’t he adorable?)
Yoon Eun Hye (GAH so beautiful and talented)
And last, but not least, from the jdoramas:
Ikuta Toma (I will follow you to the ends of the Earth)
Toda Erika (I just REALLY LOVE YOU)
